Q:
How safe is your range? I've heard horror stories about some places. A: Well, we take safety very seriously here at Knight's. We have a Triple-A rated AC filtration system on the range for your health, experienced full-time range officers for your safety and an electronic target system for your convenience. The range officers will instruct you on the range rules, the safe use of the equipment, and monitor shooters as they practice. They are also there to assist you should you need help or have a question. Q: I'm coming in from out of town, can I still shoot there? A: Yes, absolutely. Tourists and out of town guests are always welcome here. All you need is a photo ID, we have many rental firearms to choose from. Ammo, target, eye and ear protection is all included in the firearm rental fee. See rental pricing here... Q: Can I shoot a shotgun at your range? A: Yes you can, but your shotgun must have a shoulder stock. You can shoot 00 Buck if you have a full choke, but only Slug (or Sabot) if it does not. If you're not sure if you have a choke tube in your shotgun, we will be happy to check it for you. Q: Can I take pictures or video of my friends or family shooting? A: Sure, as long as you're doing it safely and not interfering with other shooters. Q: What should I wear to come shooting? A: Well, it's air-conditioned and usually cooler on the range than in the store, so if you chill easily, something with long sleeves might be a good idea. Generally though, dress comfortable. Fashionable clothes look nice, but aren't always the best idea for shooting. For your feet we recommend shoes, not sandals or flip-flops. And for the ladies, not to offend, but a top with a higher neck that covers the clevage - while not as stylish, is safer shooting attire. Q: I'd like to bring my kids shooting. How old do they have to be? A: Kids mature at different speeds. We leave it up to you as a parent to determine if they are mature enough to understand and have the motor skills needed, to follow your instructions and guidance. Please be objective, we want everyone to have a safe, enjoyable time. So if you expect they're truly not ready yet, don't force the issue. Typically we see children starting as young as 7 and 8 years old. Q: Do you have firearm safety classes for youngsters? A: Yes, we do. Although not listed on our classes page, Billy Skaggs, who is one of the instructors for our Concealed Weapons Permit class, does special classes for children and families. Feel free to contact him, he'd be happy to set up an appointment for you. Q: I think I'd like to try shooting, but I'm a little afraid, it looks pretty scary. What does it feel like? Is it hard to do? A: Like anything new, the fear you have is from the unknown, the lack of knowledge or experience. If you're like most people and have seen it on TV, it can look pretty intimidating, but that's Hollywood. If you have something to compare it to, maybe it will help. Have you ever played softball? Hitting a softball with a bat produces much more felt force on you, than firing a 9 mm pistol. If you can hit a softball, you can shoot a handgun. In fact, clapping your hands vigerously for 60 seconds will tire your hands and arms more than shooting for 60 minutes. Q: I don't understand the need for people to own guns... why does everyone seem to want to carry one? A: Well if you think of a firearm more like a tool, then it becomes easier to understand. Firearms have the ability to save lives, and often do. Look at it this way - I keep a fire extinguisher in my home. I don't expect to have a fire, in fact, it's highly unlikely. But in the event of a fire, not having the means to stop the fire could result in serious property loss, personal injury or death for myself and my family. Well, I don't expect to be the victim of a violent crime either... But crime can happen anywhere, at any time, to anyone. And not having the means to stop a violent criminal could lead to serious personal injury or death to myself or my family. It is simply a matter of common-sense prudence. Q: I'm looking to purchase a firearm, but I'm confused and not sure how to choose. Can you help? A: Absolutely. Our friendly, experienced, sales staff has decades of shooting experience to help guide you in your choices. We will assist you in finding a quality firearm that fits your hand, your budget and your needs - whether it be recreational shooting, or self defense carry. Q: When I come to use the range, can I bring my own ammo? A: To shoot in your own firearm, yes. If you'll be using one of our rental firearms, no, you must use our store ammunition purchased on the day of your rental. Q: What kind of ammunition do you carry? Do you have reloads? A: We carry a large selection of factory-new handgun and rifle ammunition, both, in defensive hollowpoint and practice ammunition for use on the range. Sorry, reloads are not available. If you have a question you'd like to add, please send us a note on the contact us page. |
